About the speaker:
Ivan served as a founding member of Serious Games Association (Singapore) and director of Serious Games Asia. The main purpose of Serious Games Association (Singapore) is to create the bridge between subject matter experts from the corporate organisations, healthcare and education sectors with the technologist for adopting, development and creating sustainable innovative technology-focused solutions.
For Serious Games Asia, Ivan specialises in introducing gamification strategies for healthcare and corporate organizations to increase organizational productivity and work process efficiency. He partners with various technologist including programmers, engineers, data scientist with healthcare clinicians and educators to develop game or gamification related projects.
Ivan’s career did not start from Serious Games. In fact, he started with the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board. His role was to liaise with the international offices of the Singapore Tourist and Promotion Board to support them in the marketing collaterals of Singapore. Moving on to the Singapore International Conventions and Exhibitions Centre, Ivan was first appointed the role of a sales manager in the food & beverage team before moving on to assistant director of exhibitions. His responsibility involves sales and marketing of exhibition spaces in the convention centre and the international marketing of the convention centre. When the special events vacancy opens up, he was transferred to head the special events department to manage the concert events and product launches. Eventually, he was asked to manage both the Conventions and Special Events departments as the Director of both departments. One of the events he was appointed to manage was the inaugural World Trade Organisation meeting.
As Congrex HQ in Sweden approached him to start their new office in Singapore and Malaysia, he left Suntec and joined the founding team with Janet Tan Collis in the newly established Congrex Singapore. The events he managed include the 5th Asian AIDS conference in Malaysia (5,000 delegates). He then started his own company INMEET CMS Pte Ltd in the Year 2000. The number of events his company managed has since pass 150 events in 15 years. The smallest being 200 persons with the largest totalling 4,000 delegates. His job scope includes conference budgeting, human resource scheduling (full time staff and part time staff), technology development, sponsorship management, marketing and sales strategy development, logistic management. Highlights include the development of the online abstract and papers management system that could increase the productivity of staff members by 80%. This software is mainly used to process the academic submissions of abstracts and papers. The software is much needed to grade the submissions and manage the entire academic review system reducing manpower by almost 80% back in the Year 2002 when the INMEET Conference Management System was developed. The same system allows his company to manage international conferences from Singapore. Thus, his experience includes management of events from China to USA.
